I apologize for the jitter in the video. There was some problems with the frame rate in the screen capture. I will attempt to resolve this in the future
Windows 7 has many improvements throughout the operating system, but this only focuses on those specific to the Tablet PC functionality.
Firstly, the Tablet PC input panel is dramatically improved. It no longer is visible on the side of the screen all of the time. This means it doesn't show up when you are watching movies full screen. In order to make it appear as a tab, the Tablet PC pen must be brought towards the screen. The on screen keyboard is much bigger and has finger sized buttons that are easier to touch if you have a touch screen.
The letter by letter input method has been removed and rolled in with the standard pen input menu. This panel now automatically recognizes handwriting and converts it to text. In the case of incorrect recognition, suggestions are provided so the correct text can be easily selected. When you can click on a word it brings up a letter by letter input option. Additionally, there are gestures to split words, merge words, and delete words. Another useful feature is that, where supported, you can highlight text and it will be brought into the input panel and can be edited live or reinserted into the text field. For example when inputting into the start menu the text entered is searched without having to manually insert the text.
The other major improvement for Tablet PC users is a Math Input Panel that is included as part of the operating system. This panel can be launched from the start menu and will recognize mathematical formulas. It inserts in the standard Microsoft Equation Editor format and is best use with Microsoft Office. While this may not be useful for everyone, it can save some people lots of clicking through the Equation Editor menu's when they know exactly what they need to write down as an equation.
There are many other improvements throughout the operating system that also improve usability, but the above were the man improvements that specifically affect Tablet PC users.
